Romantic Studio Loft, Paris
About The Property
This 55-square-meter apartment was revamped in May 2006 with the help of Parisian artist Bruno Pascal. The 5 person loft contains a real eye-catcher, an original work of art called “Laudanum” by Lisa Holden in the Pre-Raphaelite style. The term itself originated in relation to the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, an influential group of mid 19th-century avante garde painters associated with Ruskin who had great effect upon British, American, and European art.
The artwork depicts a woman under influence of Laudanum – an opium-related drug used in the mid and late 19th century and popular then amongst Montmartre artists and prostitutes. The artwork suggests a strong feeling of peace and romance that we found typical for the over-all atmosphere in this apartment.
Lisa Holden is a British artist based in Amsterdam. She has exhibited in London, the United States and throughout Europe. From Jan 18–21, Contemporary / Vintage Works will be prominently featuring her work at Photo LA 2007, one of America’s leading photography fairs. She will also be showing at Art Rotterdam 2007 with Metis_NL .
